What Do You Mean By Leave Request?

A leave request is a formal communication from an employee to the employer where the former requests permission to be absent from work for a certain period. Exchanging information about the absence in advance is important because it allows the employer to maintain smooth operation at a workplace while allowing the employee to be absent from work for personal, medical, or other reasons.

Types of Leave Requests

Parental leave

These are leave requests by employees who are expecting a child and need time to care for the newborn. Most organizations have detailed policies that align with legal requirements in addressing parental leave.

Mourning Leave

Employees may apply for bereavement leave after a member of the family has died. The sorrowful moments due to the overwhelming loss, deserve a few days or weeks of cooling time or this is a chance for them to attend all the requiems.

The Leave Request Procedure

Making a leave request involves the following steps.

Notification:

Notify the supervisor or human resources personnel about any emerging need to be absent from work as soon as possible.

Submission of Application

Formal leave request forms as required by the company should be filled out.

Review and Approval

HR reviews the application according to the company's policies and requirements.

Communication of Decision

HR will communicate to the employee the decision and what is required for coverage.

Documentation

Maintain a record of your leave request for reference in order to comply with the terms.
